2025 – The Mumbai Marathon
The Mumbai Marathon, Asia’s largest marathon and mass participation sporting event, is held annually on the third Sunday of January in Mumbai, India, and our International Programmes and Research Manager will be taking part in this incredible event on 19 January 2025 to raise funds for our mental health projects in Africa.

2024 – The Big Half
On Sunday, 1 September 2024, London came alive with the Big Half Marathon, a thrilling 13.1-mile race that winds from Tower Bridge to the historic Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Beatriz, running her very first half marathon, had an incredible experience, while Kevin celebrated a new personal best! We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated runners, Beatriz, Kevin, and Fiona for raising a total of £685, and for raising awareness for our charity. We also deeply appreciate the support from their families, friends, and colleagues, who cheered them on every step of the way.
2024 – Mumbai Tata Half Marathon
Network for Africa’s International Programmes and Research Manager took part in Asia’s biggest marathon event on Sunday, 21 January 2024. Tom completed the run in 1 hour and 56 minutes and raised over £1,500 for our locally-led mental health work in Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Uganda. Our thanks go to Tom and his supporters for this amazing achievement.
2022 – #GivingTuesday
In celebration of #GivingTuesday (29 November), JustGiving gave Network for Africa the opportunity to collect fee-free donations via Network for Africa’s special #GivingTuesday fundraising page. All donations received during this time will be used to support our mental health projects in Rwanda, Uganda and Sierra Leone.
2021 – N4A’s First Crowdfunder Campaign
We launched our first ever Crowdfunder campaign to raise funds to help 250 families in northern Uganda to plant vegetable gardens & avoid food shortages inflicted by Covid-19. We are grateful to several supporters for their donations (and in particular to a Trust) in helping us to raise £5,115.
Distribution of beans, vegetable seeds and soap started this week (1 November).
50 Self Help Group leaders recently took part in some additional training to enhance their knowledge and skills in growing vegetables. The group received support from agricultural extension officers from respective sub counties.
The following topics were covered during the training sessions:
- The importance of kitchen gardening
- The varieties of eggplant
- Nursery bed establishment and management
- Pest and disease control; and
- Post-harvest handling
Each Self Help Group leader is expected to share the knowledge and skills gained from the training with their fellow group members.
2021 – Match Funding Campaign
One generous supporter offered Network for Africa the opportunity to run a private match funding campaign in support of our mental health projects. Running from 25 February until 31 March 2021, donations up to a total of £15,000/$21,000 were matched. Thanks to our supporters, the campaign enabled us to raise a total of £30,000/$42,000. This will be used to enable our continuous funding of our mental health projects in Africa.
2020 – Green Ribbons Fundraising Event
We are delighted that the Youth for the World team at Cheltenham Ladies’ College chose World Mental Health Day 2020 to support our mental health project in Port Loko, Sierra Leone. They have raised both awareness and funds by selling green ribbons throughout the week (5-9 October 2020). Staff and students bought the ribbons from various points around the campus, alongside honesty boxes. Our founder, Rebecca Tinsley sent a video message which was played in each year group’s assembly. Their efforts have raised £350. Our team in Sierra Leone sends a big thank you to Youth for the World. Network for Africa also thanks the students and staff at Cheltenham Ladies’ College for taking part.
