- Training and support for small businesses and farms
- Training and support for village savings and loans group
- Established a cooperative and mutual support network among vulnerable women
Ribbe Aye Teko (Women are Strong Together) comprised a group of 47 vulnerable and poor women, some of whom were HIV positive, were child mothers, former child soldiers and widows. We supported them for five years, providing them with the start-up costs for setting up small income generating activities and a Village Savings and Loan Association. The women flourished together, forming a cooperative to share their learning and resources. 96% of the women told us they had increased their income, thanks to Ribbe Aye Teko; 90% had started other small businesses since joining the group; 81% said they produced more food for themselves and their families, and 13 of the women who had been victims of domestic violence, reported that they were no longer being abused.
